The next meeting of the Nepean / Blue Mountains Prostate Cancer Support Group will be held at 6.30 pm on Monday the 16 July 2018 at the:

St Stephen’s Anglican Church Hall,

254 High St, Penrith NSW 2750, Australia

Our meeting in July will feature a presentation from

  1. Wayne Singleton – Camino Walker, Support Group Member and Board Assistant Secretary
  2. Gwen Renshaw – Camino Walker and wife of our Vice President

The Topic:

Exercise and Cancer – Walking the Camino de Santiago

You will have seen recent publicity which suggests that exercise benefits most people both during and after cancer treatment by helping to manage some of the common side effects of treatment, speed up your return to your usual activities, and improve quality of life.

Both Wayne and Gwen have recently completed the Camino de Santiago which has been an important Christian pilgrimage route for over 1000 years. It begins in St Jean Pied de Port in France and traverses 799km along the top of north- western Spain to Santiago de Compostela. While not suggesting this walk is what was envisaged for all cancer sufferers, it will be interesting to compare the experiences of a prostate cancer sufferer with Gwen’s.

All meetings are available to males and their partners who are seeking information on this cancer, and who live in the Blacktown, Blue Mountains, Hawkesbury and Penrith areas.

Come along and experience the caring and benefits offered by our Support group whose motto is YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
